Oh I do love a cuppa

As many of us enjoy a cuppa throughout the day, this is not so easy in hospital. David asked for tea and was granted it two hours later when they came round on the tea run. He said to the nurse ‘you took your time; I’d thought you’d forgotten’. She’d served the whole ward and left David till last, yet he asked before the round was to be done. I myself would have served the person who’d asked first if I had to go and start the ward round. The night David (my dad) passed away, we heard a man in the bed opposite ask for a cup of tea. It must have been 1:30am. He was told to go back to sleep and he could NOT have tea at this time. I’m sure that that patient and I are not the only persons to wake in the middle of the night and have a drink. So why this can’t be done in hospital? For all we know, that could be their last. But I guess it’s too much disturbance for the night staff sat reading their paper or doing their crossword. Under different circumstances I would have made sure that nur
