Just around the river bend
The weekend is here and we are packing up to go to Boone to paddle on the Des Moines River. My cousin has been rowing for many years, she and her husband are up at 5am every morning to get out on the river before work. Lucky for us, we leave in the afternoon for a day of adventure. The quietness around when on the water is one that everyone should experience if they can. We had our beer attached to our boat, nice and chilled and perfect for stopping and watching the beauty of nature. The next day my cousin left a kayak out for me whilst they went out with their sprint team. I cautiously got into the kayak to venture out on my own. Mother waved my off as I tried to get back into the motion that I learnt the day before.
