Who are you without them? POEM

Image
Who are you without them?  Are you standing tall in a room on your own? Have you got the confidence to dine alone?  Will you laugh aloud when they missed the punch, because they're too drunk and you're not stoned or half cut to un hear every syllable in each and every tone. Fall into place, put your hand on your waist, your disjointed body and face. Any thing to save grace. For that taste, the inclusive, judgemental party race.  But who are you without them? Can you walk alone, stay at home, happy to not pick up the phone. For socials aren't socials in flesh and bone. Are you OK without the phone? Is your time more valuable than your health? Giving time is humans true wealth.  Time giving, time without sleep, time to meet your mates in the streets. Time that's not replaced as you give away what family needs. Time they didn't rush when you picked up the phone saying 'Hey, let's meet.' Who are you without them? ...

I don't want to be a feminist

I don't want to be known as feminist. I roll my eyes at anything with this label. I roll may eyes at anything that's labelled anything to do with equality. Not because I am anti, I am bored of the fact that it's even a topic. In a world we are trying not to label people, we seem to have more labels than ever. Can we just all agree that we are humans, with blood running through our bodies and the ability to do whatever we want to do. The more I hear or read about LGBTQ or race or feminism, the more my blood sizzles and I want to ignore it. Even the topic about children being gender neutral or parents consciously deciding that they are going to be brought up in a specific way makes me huff. I, as a child said so many time that I wanted to be a boy. Not because I actually wanted to be a boy, but because I had two brothers and they seemed to have an easier life. They didn't have to spend ages getting their hair combed out, or made a fuss about what they were wearing when...

In A + E

I woke up this morning still thinking about what I saw whilst at Lewisham hospital A and E. This has really hit a nerve and out of all the people there, I was the only one who step up and said something. What is with our HARASSING, that they have stand and stare? Raise your voice people, protect what is right and shout when someone is doing something wrong. It was early evening and I had been sat with a friend in the waiting room for a few hours, so far it had been quite peaceful. There were one or two twitchy people, a few moaning in pain and the neglected elderly women who could do with a wash. As time passed one of the twitchy men was getting restless, his actions and sound getting more boisterous. He gone from 'He looks a bit sketchy', to boisterous crazy. Crazy people are fine, every town has someone that kind of know to the community. You know how to 'handle' them. It's just when they become a bit menacing, you start to feel on edge. This particular man,...

Can I just go Back to Bed.

Image
Monday, no work. That's fine, I've got to hoover and finish a sewing project. I've got the house to myself. So I thought, until one of my house mates crawled out from his room. Now that's ruined my reign of freedom and my fast pace to get my to do list done. Tuesday, no work. I got a text saying that the job's cancelled yesterday. They also kindly text me this afternoon to say tomorrows cancelled. I think I'm just going to cancel the rest of 2016 and go back to bed. I'm resisting so hard not to get into bed. It's not like I've not done anything today. I was at the gym for 10:30 am this morning, that's the real reason I need to get back into bed. Boxercise has left me exhausted!  The benefits of going back to bed: Save money, as I have none. (This will change Recover. Avoid my house mate (who happens to be at home again.) And hide from my no so exciting life. Benefits of NOT going to bed: Begin to write an amazing script/ play/ novel...

My interview with Patrick Micheal

Image
I was recently asked to take part in '8 Questions With...' For Patrick Micheal. A blogger and writer based in America. I very much enjoy being interview and have also been subject to a pre graduates dissertation.  Below is the interview with Pat.  It’s 4:34 pm Welcome another edition of “8 Questions with…..”. So in keeping to my recent trend of interviewing some incredible and very talented artists from the UK,I decided to ask Sarah Sharman for a nice chat. Sarah is a very friendly young lady and you can see, also very beautiful as well. Acting in the UK seems at once both close knit yet wide open depending on who you ask. I see the different folks post on boards looking for the one break they feel they may need to gain the next level. One huge difference I do see between the UK acting world and the US is the fact the actors from the UK seem willing to help their fellow artists. The group where I met Sarah was like that. People sharing information, new productions getting geare...

My Hair Angel

Image
It was only a few weeks ago I looked at my hair, fed up. It always seems dry, yet I'm forever moisturising it. It's grown out, but has no shape. It's so bushy it takes forever to do each day. The journey of leaving relaxers and hair straighteners, has been long, and today more woman are embracing their curls and learn how to manage them. I, however was contemplated cutting it short again and thought to revert back to relaxing it after 4 years. Neither I really wanted to do. I'm still learning and trying to find what is best and works well for my hair. I've watched endless amounts of Youtube videos seeking advice from others with curly or unruly hair. But what I need is a miracle! Brown Beauty Talk-special guest,  Subrina Kidd My  prayers were answered.  My hair Angel had come to save me from the woes of my natural curly hair.  The amazing Subrina Kidd, who I'd been introduced to a few years back at the Toni and Guy academy called me to see if I wa...

How To Save A Life...

Image
There are days that I wake up and think, I’m just going to stay in bed, there’s nothing for me to get up for, I have nowhere to be. I seem to be having that thought every time I have a day off. And currently, nearly every day is a day off for me. I’m also starting to think, what if i disappear? Just vanish, maybe even die? Nobody will notice. Not for a few weeks at least. I don’t have a regular job, so that won’t be a problem. And I don’t have close friends that see my often for them to notice. At the moment I’ve realised again, that I don’t have anything here. I spent three months away in a different country, not really knowing anyone and ended up feeling a lot better there than I did here.  “Its better to be lonely in a place no one knows you.’ ( A series of emotions you  might  feel....) I’m not going to die. Its just a thought I play with, I haven't planned HOW I will die. So its not even a deep thought…Just a passing one, so maybe vanishing will be a bett...
